Hotel Vritomartis > a little paradise in Crete
Hotel Vritomartis…. last year first time there beginning October. The way from the north (where the airports are) to the hotel in the evening and darkness is yet an adventure… You can take a cab from the airports, but hiring a vehicle is recommended, from the hotel you can discover a part of Crete on your own way. Once there it’s an oase in the middle of a quite desert landscape. The hotel complex is not so big (and that’s a great advantage), it has a main building (where there are some rooms and where the reception, restaurant and bar is) and some apartments/studio’s in the backyard. In the main building and the restaurant/bar clothing is obligatory, once outside the main building it’s free, no more clothing necessary. The view from the restaurant on the great blue is wonderful. The personal is very helpful and friendly. The breakfast an evening meal can be taken outside or inside. (with cloths). The food is very good and variated. Some regional food, some international food. The prices for drinks are very reasonable also at the bar. There is a poolbar and there is also a bar/restaurant at the private Filaki naturist beach. In the garden of the hotel there is a large swimming pool, but we prefer to go to the (private) Filaki naturist beach. From the hotel it’s 10min walking with sometimes crossing the regional goats. 😉 . The road is good but for going to the beach it’s most of the way descending… but for returning it’s climbing – but there is also a shuttle bus from the hotel to the beach. The beach is a wonderful place to stay, there are beach chairs and sun umbrellas. The beach is with stones, so beach shoes are advised. The water is very clear and there are many beautiful fishes, it’s a wonderful place for snorkeling. (temperature of the sea in October stil 26 degrees) As said, at the beach bar you can eat a pizza or a salad and have a refreshing drink. There is a wonderful animation team and lots of activities are organised . There are some activities/excursions that are naturist – boat trips, hiking…. and some non naturist. We did a boat trip long the south coast and it was a very pleasant trip, visit of 3 naturist beaches, good lunch, good atmosphere. As in the title, this place is a little paradise in Crete. So this year in September/October we go back for the second time and that won’t be the last…
