Castillo de Papagayo

Booked for 2 weeks, extended with a week as we liked it so much ! We stayed in type 1, the cheapest i think, as it was for us a place to stay. Simple, 2 bedrooms, small patio, large gras field with a somewhat chilly pool and you have your own chairs and umbrella to setup where you want. Spend a lot of relaxed hours on the field, reading, chilling. We liked the village where you can go naked everywhere except the supermarket and restaurant. Lovely walks through town, bit of coast. Building is stone so cool but you do hear neigbours if they move chairs.

Charco del Palo is a little ‘naturist’ village at the east-coast of Lanzarote. Tho get there you must leave the main road in Mala and drive thru a rough landscape to the village. In the village you can walk naked everywhere, but in the restaurants/shop you must take a pareo or something like that. When you go to the coast you can walk naked for some time either to the left or to the right, but you have to wear hiking shoes. We walked naked to near the village Arrieta (5km) and back. In the village there are two resorts ‘castillo de papagayo’. One beside the sea, but that is more like a hotel with apartments/studio’s at the swimming pool and with sea view. We didn’t stay there. There are also 20 apartments a bit away from the coast, there we stayed. It’s very peaceful and quiet there, there is a little swiming pool and a nice garden. We loved that place. The apartments are very nice, there is a hotel service for cleaning, towels and bedlinen.. In the village there are some restaurants, but we prefered to go for diner in a local restaurant in Mala (5 min driving by car) – Restaurante Arepera Jojoto y Millo La Única. The dishes are always fresh and delicious. From Charco del Palo you can go visiting the island of Lanzarote. It’s a very nice place to go to when you’re not interested in crowded areas. We ‘ll return surely.
